Barbara Brackman's Civil War Sampler presents fifty quilt blocks that commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Most blocks were originally published in the 1930s and were selected for the symbolism their names carry in telling stories from the era's women. The book includes period photographs and first-person accounts alongside the quilt block patterns. Each block is presented in two colorways with instructions for both 8" and 12" sizes. Quilters can choose from pieced or appliquéd designs. The patterns use reproduction fabrics and can be combined to create a tribute quilt.
