Becoming the Boogeyman

Becoming the Boogeyman is a sequel to Chasing the Boogeyman. In the summer of 1988, a young Richard Chizmar found himself at the center of a crisis when serial killer Joshua Gallagher, known as "The Boogeyman," terrorized his Maryland town. Decades later, Chizmar has become the only person Gallagher will communicate with while imprisoned. Chizmar visits Gallagher in prison, believing he may help identify additional victims and provide closure to families. However, when a masked figure leaves a disturbing message at Chizmar's home—bearing the hallmarks of Gallagher's crimes from thirty years prior—it becomes clear that a new threat has emerged in the ongoing game the Boogeyman controls. The novel explores themes of obsession and society's fascination with true crime. As events escalate toward a conclusion, the story raises questions about whether those involved will step away to protect their loved ones, or whether they will be drawn back into a killer's web. One person holds all the answers to what unfolds.
