Betrayal at Blackthorn Park: An Evelyne Redfern Mystery

Evelyne Redfern, a former typist who has completed spy training, is assigned her first field mission as an agent to help Britain during the war. Her task is to conduct a security test at Blackthorn Park, a requisitioned manor house in Sussex. She is disappointed by the assignment's apparent simplicity and frustrated to learn her handler will be David Poole, a fellow agent whose personality she finds both strait-laced and dashing. Evelyne soon discovers that Blackthorn Park is a secret weapons research and development facility of greater importance than she initially realized. An impending visit from Winston Churchill makes security critical. When she finds the facility's chief engineer dead in his office, her routine assignment transforms into a complex investigation. Evelyne and David must use their detection skills to identify the responsible party and uncover layers of deception that could affect the war's outcome.
