Blitzkrieg Poland (Images of War)

This book presents photographs from three unpublished albums documenting the German invasion of Poland in 1939. The images were captured by an SS officer, a regular officer, and a soldier attached to a medical unit. The photographs show German units in movement, tanks, artillery, and aircraft. They include knocked-out Polish vehicles, captured Polish troops, and civilians. The images document the speed of the German advance, with some Polish cities, towns, and villages showing heavy fighting damage while others appear untouched. One album features a German unit in fast open cars moving through the Polish countryside. Another shows armored vehicles and engineers, while a third depicts ambulance teams advancing through devastated areas. Throughout the book are photographs of German and Polish uniforms as they were worn in practice, earlier German armor, Polish armor, and German troops at rest and preparing for further operations.
