Bluebird Gold

After her father's sudden death, the narrator moves into his small lakeside cabin in Dalton, Montana to settle his estate. Though friends urge her to sell, she decides to stay through the winter to say goodbye and remember her father, who loved Montana lore. She takes a temporary teaching position to occupy herself during the isolated season. While cleaning out the cabin, she discovers questions about her father's death. She becomes drawn to Sheriff Cosi Raynes, whose son is her student, despite knowing his life is rooted in Montana while hers is not. As she uncovers clues her father left behind about a lost Montana gold legend, avoiding Cosi becomes impossible, as does denying their mutual attraction. Her winter of healing transforms into a search for answers. She came to bury the past, but finds herself falling for someone who might be her future. She must solve the mystery before someone in Dalton determined to keep the truth hidden stops her.
