Bridges

Tess Everett, facing an empty nest three years after her husband Dan's death, volunteers with the Winterset public parks in Madison County, Iowa, home to the famous covered bridges. Her life shifts when J.W. McRae, a former resident, arrives to paint at one of the bridges. J.W. was once married to Tess's late friend Char and abandoned their son Wynn, whom Tess and Dan raised after Char's death. J.W. now seeks to reconcile with Wynn, motivated by a new granddaughter. When Tess rents her backyard garage apartment to J.W., hoping to facilitate father-son healing, an unexpected connection develops between them. As their friendship deepens, Tess and J.W. must decide whether their relationship is worth reshaping their lives for, and whether they can build the bridges needed to repair broken family bonds.
