About this book

John Hayes, a disgraced Special Operations legend, returns to the United States on the run. His goal is to reunite with his wife and daughter while seeking revenge against those who accused him. Now a surgeon who travels from town to town, Byrne is recruited by a high-ranking government official to capture his former friend. Hayes and Byrne were once extremely close, but their bond is tested when the fate of the nation becomes uncertain and nothing appears as it seems. Both men must determine whom to trust and whom to betray. The conflict culminates in a final confrontation between the two former brothers-in-arms. Quirk, an experienced reporter with extensive research into America's Special Operations Forces, combines military action with moral complexity and character development throughout the narrative.
