Quinn Alexander has committed a serious crime and flees to avoid prison, leaving behind her home, job, and family. She heads toward the northern border with her passport, but a snowstorm forces her off the road. Stranded, Quinn takes shelter at the Baxter Motel, a run-down establishment owned by the handsome and seemingly kind Nick Baxter, who offers her an inexpensive room for the night. However, the motel harbors a dark past. In a dilapidated house across the property, the silhouette of Nick's ailing wife appears constantly at the window, always watching. Quinn plans to leave in the morning and continue her journey to freedom, but she must first survive the night at the motel.
