About this book

Charity Lee recounts her experience after her thirteen-year-old son, Paris, murdered her four-year-old daughter, Ella. The memoir follows Lee's intense grief over losing her daughter while simultaneously trying to understand why her son committed this act and how she failed to recognize warning signs of his psychopathy. While processing her devastation, Lee remains a mother to Paris. She advocates for him to receive appropriate treatment while incarcerated, yet also works to ensure he remains imprisoned to prevent future harm. Despite everything he has done, Lee still loves her son and seeks connection with him. From her experiences, Lee rebuilds her life and establishes a non-profit organization to support families of both victims and offenders. The memoir explores grief, loss, and forgiveness, and documents Lee's survival and transformation.
