Look on the Bright Side

Lark Smith has always followed a clear life plan: find a partner, build a marriage like her parents', have children, and become an oncologist. None of it is working out. Her relationship failed, she was transferred out of oncology for being too emotional, and her parents have recently separated. When renowned surgeon Lorenzo Santini (known as Dr. Satan) needs a date for his sister's wedding, Lark sees an opportunity. His grandmother wants to see him settled, and in exchange, he might help her return to oncology. Despite her reservations about fake relationships, Lark agrees. She quickly finds herself drawn to his warm family, particularly his estranged brother. Meanwhile, Lark's mother moves in with Lark's landlady Joy, and an unexpected friendship develops between them. Over a long summer in a large oceanside house, the three women navigate what comes next and discover that life's most valuable moments often arrive unplanned.
