Memoir From Antproof Case: A Novel

An elderly American living in Brazil writes his memoirs while sitting in a mountain garden in Niterói overlooking the ocean. He is an English teacher at a naval academy, married to a much younger woman, and father to a young son. As he writes and places pages in his antproof case, his life story emerges: a World War II fighter pilot shot down twice, an investment banker who met with popes and presidents, and a man who experienced love throughout his life. He was a thief, a murderer, and a protector of the innocent. Central to his existence was a lifelong struggle against coffee, which he viewed as the world's most insidious enslaver. The novel blends adventure, satire, moments of transcendence, and comedy to present a life that reflects the events and character of the twentieth century.
