Moonlight & Vines is a collection of short stories set in Newford, the fictional North American city that serves as the backdrop for Charles de Lint's novels Memory & Dream, Trader, and Someplace To Be Flying. Newford is portrayed as a city that appears tough and streetwise on the surface but contains hidden magic for those able to perceive it. This volume is the third collection of Newford stories and includes several tales published here in book form for the first time. The stories depict enchantment within an urban landscape, presenting North American city life through de Lint's perspective. According to Interzone's review of de Lint's earlier Newford collection Dreams Underfoot, these tales blend literary influences and create "a haunting mixture of human warmth and cold inevitability, of lessons learned and prices to be paid."
