This novel is based on the film My Cousin Vinny. It tells the story of Bill Gambini and Stanley Rothstein, two friends from Brooklyn traveling cross-country to UCLA. While passing through Alabama, they stop at a convenience store and are arrested on suspicion of shoplifting a can of tuna. They are then charged with murder in connection with the death of a store clerk and face possible death sentences. With no money for legal representation, Bill calls his cousin Vinny, a lawyer with no trial experience. Vinny, along with his fiancée Mona Lisa Vito, must defend the two men against significant opposition: three eyewitnesses, a sheriff, an FBI forensics expert, a district attorney, and a judge determined to expose Vinny as a fraud. This literary adaptation includes additional scenes beyond the film version.
