Night of the Grizzlies is Jack Olsen's true account of a tragic night in August 1967 when two separate groups of campers, located at a distance from each other, were killed by enraged bears. Olsen is the author of thirty-three books published in fifteen countries and eleven languages. His journalism has received the National Headliners Award, the Chicago Newspaper Guild's Page One Award, commendations from Columbia and Indiana Universities, the Washington State Governor's Award, and the Scripps-Howard Award, among other honors. He has been listed in Who's Who in America since 1968 and in Who's Who in the World since 1987. His work has been cited in the New York Times Notable Books of the Year, and the Times described it as "a genuine contribution to criminology and journalism alike." Olsen is a two-time winner of the Edgar Award in the Best Fact Crime category from the Mystery Writers of America. His studies of crime are used as required reading in university criminology courses.
