Perfect for you if...

  • You're sceptical of mainstream archaeological consensus and want to see the evidence that challenges the "out-of-Africa" theory presented in one place.
  • You're interested in Aboriginal history and culture beyond the dismissive "primitive" narrative taught in schools.
  • You enjoy deep historical research that synthesises DNA evidence, archaeological findings, and oral traditions from indigenous communities.

Maybe not for you if...

  • You need peer-reviewed journal articles and academic consensus to feel confident about a theory. This challenges established orthodoxy and may frustrate you.
  • You're looking for a conventional history book with balanced coverage of competing theories rather than a sustained argument for one bold conclusion.
  • You prefer books that stay tightly focused on a single region or culture rather than tracing global migration patterns and spiritual influences.

About this book

Steven and Evan Strong challenge the "out-of-Africa" theory of human origin. Drawing on DNA and archaeological evidence, they argue that modern humans originated in Australia instead. The authors contend that original Australians possessed a sophisticated culture that may have established the world's first spiritual traditions. They possessed seafaring technology enabling international voyages, leaving traces in the Americas, Japan, Southern India, Egypt, and elsewhere. Original Australians practiced brain surgery, created the first hand tools, and possessed knowledge of penicillin. Based on 30 years of research conducted in consultation with elders in the original Australian community, the Strongs present several conclusions: humans existed in Australia 40,000 years before previously thought; original Australians undertook large-boat migrations throughout the Indian and Pacific rim; three distinct kinds of Homo sapiens are found in Australia; evidence from the Americas contradicts the out-of-Africa theory; and Aboriginal spiritual influence appears reflected in world religions.
