This graphic novel adaptation of Octavia E. Butler's Parable of the Sower was awarded the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story or Comic. It is the follow-up to Kindred: A Graphic Novel Adaptation, created by the same team of Damian Duffy and John Jennings. Set in 2024, the story depicts America facing severe environmental and economic crises that trigger widespread social chaos. Lauren Olamina, a preacher's daughter living in Los Angeles, initially finds protection within her gated community's walls. When a night of fire and violence erupts, her fight for survival transforms into something larger: a vision of human destiny and the emergence of a new faith. The adaptation includes an introduction by SFWA Grand Master Nalo Hopkinson.
