The essays span from The Killing Floor (1999) to Blue Moon (2019), documenting the character's development as an action hero. An afterword by crime fiction expert and bookseller Otto Penzler examines the character's significance within contemporary crime fiction. In addition to the essays, the collection features an original Reacher short story—the first new Reacher story written entirely by Lee Child since 2019.
