Sashiko 365: Stitch a new sashiko pattern every day of the year

A collection of 365 sashiko patterns, one for each day of the year. Susan Briscoe, a sashiko sewing expert, presents each pattern with a photograph of the stitched sample and a diagram showing stitch direction and order. Each pattern is stitched onto a four-and-a-half-inch square of fabric, making it accessible to complete one swatch daily. You can record the date of each completed sample in the book. The 365 fabric swatches can be pieced together to create a double bed-sized sashiko sampler quilt. Alternatively, patterns can be repeated to make wall hangings, throws, table mats, and smaller quilts. Each pattern includes its Japanese name and pattern type. Designs are grouped to show how they develop and help build skills and knowledge of sashiko patterns. Sashiko is a decorative sewing technique from Japan traditionally used to reinforce textiles. It involves horizontal and vertical stitches that create geometric designs and is suitable for visible mending. Briscoe has authored the best-selling Ultimate Sashiko Sourcebook and teaches regular sashiko workshops. This is the first book to collect all 365 of these designs together.
