Sewanee Chester is an audiobook narrator and former actress whose dreams were cut short by a tragic accident. She finds purpose narrating from a sound booth, which allows her to support her ailing grandmother. After a chance encounter with a stranger in Las Vegas, Sewanee is asked to narrate the final book by a beloved romance novelist—alongside Brock McNight, the industry's most sought-after and secretive voice. Sewanee has avoided romance novels for years, skeptical of their promises after her own life took an unexpected turn. However, her admiration for the late author and the financial need to help her grandmother lead her to accept the project. As she and Brock work together, they develop a genuine connection, sheltered by the anonymity of their professional roles. Sewanee begins to dream again, but as secrets surface and reality reasserts itself, she faces difficult choices about what she is willing to risk for the desires she has long suppressed.
