About this book

Sherman Alexie tells the story of Junior, a budding cartoonist growing up on the Spokane Indian Reservation. Determined to take control of his future, Junior leaves his troubled school on the reservation to attend an all-white farm town high school, where he is the only Indian student besides the school mascot. The novel chronicles Junior's adolescence as a Native American boy navigating life between two worlds. The book includes illustrations by Ellen Forney that reflect the character's artwork. This edition features a foreword by Markus Zusak, interviews with Sherman Alexie and Ellen Forney, and black-and-white interior art throughout. The story is based on the author's own experiences.
