About this book

Three novels following human castaways stranded on Tran-ky-ky, an icy alien planet with hurricane-force winds. A botched kidnapping aboard the interstellar transport Antares sends Ethan Frome Fortune and fellow travelers crash-landing on the desolate world. Stranded and cut off from civilization, the group must survive encounters with vicious predators and hostile plant life. Fortune forms an alliance with a native Tran and works to help them gain admission to the Humanx Commonwealth while learning about their history. Just as Fortune accepts he may never escape Tran-ky-ky, scientists detect rising atmospheric temperatures. This unexpected change sets Fortune on a final adventure as he confronts the consequences of the planet's shifting climate.
