About this book

Lord Peter Wimsey and his manservant Bunter are traveling through the flatlands of East Anglia when their car goes into a ditch. They make their way to the nearest church, where they receive hospitality and an invitation to participate in bell-ringing—an ancient art involving mathematical complexities. The rector and his friends are planning a 9-hour marathon bell-ringing session to welcome the New Year, and Lord Peter joins them. What appears to be a cheerful community masks a darker history. During their stay, Lord Peter and Bunter encounter a murder, a mutilated corpse, and an unsolved jewel theft from decades past that has continued to claim local lives. As the bells toll repeatedly, Lord Peter must unravel these crimes. This is the 11th book in the Lord Peter Wimsey Mysteries series and can be read independently of the others. The ebook includes an illustrated biography of Dorothy L. Sayers with rare images from the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College.
