About this book

Private investigator Cormoran Strike is hired by novelist Owen Quine's wife to find her missing husband, who has disappeared before. As Strike investigates, he learns that Quine has completed a manuscript containing damaging portrayals of people in his life. Publication would ruin many of them, giving numerous suspects motive for his disappearance. When Quine is discovered murdered under unusual circumstances, Strike must identify a killer with motivations unlike any he has previously encountered. The case becomes a race against time as he works to understand the crime. This is the second novel in the Cormoran Strike series, featuring Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott.
