The Sky Beneath Us

The Sky Beneath Us follows two women across nearly a century. In 1927, Violet Mackenzie-Grant begins her studies at the Edinburgh School of Gardening for Women, a journey that eventually takes her to Kathmandu and beyond as she explores distant landscapes and cultures far from her home in Scotland. In 2020, Daisy Laverock discovers her great-great-aunt Violet's long-lost journals documenting plant hunting expeditions in the 1930s. Inspired by these accounts and her own career, Daisy decides to retrace Violet's footsteps. Recently divorced and facing an empty nest, she travels to Nepal to trek in the shadow of Everest. However, circumstances and the pandemic leave her stranded and alone. Stranded in Nepal, Daisy relies on the help of strangers while drawing strength from Violet's determination and resilience. As she reconstructs fragments of Violet's story and uncovers hidden secrets, Daisy searches for answers about her own future.
