The Spark

A standalone novel by Vi Keeland. After grabbing the wrong suitcase at the airport, the narrator calls the luggage tag number hoping to retrieve her bag. The man who answers—Donovan Decker—has her suitcase and she has his. They meet to exchange bags and experience an immediate attraction. What begins as coffee turns into dinner, then a weekend together. Donovan is handsome, intelligent, funny, and surprisingly grounded despite his expensive tastes. He even does her laundry while she sleeps. Feeling her life is too complicated for someone so genuinely kind, the narrator disappears without explanation while Donovan is in the shower. Over the following months she thinks of him often, but with eight million people in New York City, she assumes their paths won't cross again. A year later, she encounters Donovan once more—just as she begins dating his boss.
