Sam Vives is a fifteen-year-old boy living with his family in Barcelona who believes he is ordinary. He is actually a "Displacer"—one of the few people capable of traveling through time. When Sam suddenly finds himself fighting for his life aboard a ship during Blackbeard's era of piracy, he begins to realize he is far from normal.
