The Wandering Season: A Novel

Veronica Stratton, a specialty food broker whose business is on the verge of significant success, returns to her parents' home in Estes Park for Christmas. Recently ended a long-term relationship, she hopes to reconnect with family and leave her troubles behind. However, a DNA test from her younger sister reveals what she had long suspected: she is adopted. This discovery leaves her feeling adrift. Seeking escape from the upheaval in her life, Veronica plans a trip to Europe inspired by her best friend. She visits four locations from her DNA ancestry report: County Mayo in Ireland, the Dordogne region of France, the countryside of Lombardy in Italy, and Copenhagen, Denmark. Her goals include learning about her family's history and making business connections for her expanding company. At each location, she experiences visions of her ancestors that generate more questions than answers. During her time in Ireland, she meets Niall Callahan, a castle keeper, whose role in her future becomes an unexpected consideration.
