About this book

Old Man Fookwire is a grumpy character who enjoys painting pictures of the birds that visit his backyard. When the birds fly south each winter, leaving him sad and lonely, he decides to build beautiful bird feeders filled with seeds and berries to keep them around. However, the squirrels in the area are equally interested in the feeders and raid them repeatedly. As the conflict between the old man and the squirrels escalates, the birds eventually depart as they do each year. The squirrels then devise a plan that unexpectedly wins over the grumpy old man. This story is from the creators of Dragons Love Tacos. It won a Borders Original Voices Award and was nominated for a 2009 Children's Choice Award. The series includes two additional books: Those Darn Squirrels and the Cat Next Door and Those Darn Squirrels Fly South.
