Three Girls from Bronzeville is a memoir by Dawn Turner Trice about three Black girls growing up in Bronzeville, a historic neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. Their lives are marked by heartbreak, loss, displacement, and tragedy, including murder. Turning to memoir, Dawn attempts to understand the shocking turns that consumed her sister and best friend, asking herself why their paths diverged so dramatically. The book explores race, class, opportunity, and how these forces shape lives, resilience, and redemption. It is also a celebration of sisterhood and friendship, and a testimony to the unique struggles of Black women.
