Wisteria Island

Danielle Wright, a head ICU nurse in Atlanta, discovers her fiancé is engaged to two other women at the same hospital, with one pregnant. Facing hospital gossip and public humiliation, she accepts an unusual job: the only nurse on Wisteria Island, a car-free retirement community off the coast of South Carolina. The island is vastly different from Atlanta. Residents travel by golf cart, one man wears rhinestone suits, and a woman reports naked aliens in the marsh. Danielle's cottage, built in the 1920s as a rich man's mistress's home, is filled with sand. The previous eight nurses quit because the seniors proved difficult. Her boss, Bennett Alexander, lives modestly and performs manual labor around the island. He has not disclosed that he built Wisteria Island from scratch and is one of the wealthiest men in the country. Danielle came to hide, not to fall in love. But the stubborn, fiercely lovable residents refuse to let her remain invisible, and Bennett sees through her defenses. The novel features a slow-burn romance, eccentric senior citizens, and themes of starting over and found family. It concludes with a happy ending and contains no explicit content.
