After Paris

After Paris intertwines the lives of three women across generations, connecting 1940s France with present-day Virginia. Ruby Nevins, twenty-five, is recovering from two years of cancer treatment and determined to move forward. While researching a project about a French actress, she discovers an old diary that transforms her understanding of the past. Cécile was a prominent French cinema actress in the early 1940s who disappeared from Nazi-occupied Paris in 1942. Sylvia Rousseau, Cécile's dressmaker and confidante, vanished the same year. As Ruby investigates Cécile's disappearance and Sylvia's life, she learns both women aided the Resistance and fought daily for survival. Ruby sees herself reflected in their courage and resilience, recognizing that if they could live under the shadow of death, she too can embrace the future rather than fear it.
