Blood Justice recounts the true crime case of Jeffrey Gorton, a Michigan murderer who evaded detection for years. In 1991, flight attendant Nancy Ludwig was found dead in an airport hotel near Detroit—gagged, raped, tortured, and with her throat severely slashed. Her husband Arthur pursued the case, hoping future evidence would solve it. Six years earlier, in 1985, music professor Margarette Eby was killed in similar fashion at her cottage in Flint, Michigan. The case went unsolved until Margarette's son Mark discovered the details of Nancy Ludwig's murder and contacted authorities, suspecting the same killer was responsible for both crimes. A sting operation produced DNA evidence that led investigators to Jeffrey Gorton, a respected navy veteran living with his wife and two children. As his secrets unraveled, authorities feared additional victims might exist from an extended killing spree. The book documents this investigation and its resolution.
