Call of the Camino: A Novel

Suzanne Redfearn's novel follows two women whose lives intersect across the Camino de Santiago, a five-hundred-mile pilgrimage route in Spain, separated by a generation. Reina Watkins lost her father at age eight and carries that grief into adulthood. When her journalism career takes an unexpected turn, she undertakes the same pilgrimage her father completed at her age, unaware of its transformative potential. Decades earlier, in 1997, teenager Isabelle Vidal flees her boarding school and heads to the Way of Saint James, believing the Camino will provide for her. She encounters a young American and envisions a new life, though her past threatens to catch up with her. As one woman confronts her past and the other pursues her future, their paths on the same sacred trail become mysteriously connected.
