Cover Story: A Novel

After a difficult year at NYU, aspiring writer Lora Ricci accepts a summer internship at ELLE magazine, where she meets Cat Wolff, a contributing editor and daughter of a clean-energy mogul. Cat befriends Lora, involves her in side projects, and encourages her writing. When Lora confides about her financial struggles and lost scholarship, Cat proposes a solution: Lora should drop out of NYU and become her ghostwriter. Lora accepts and moves into Cat's suite at the Plaza Hotel when her internship ends. Her life transforms as she writes during the day and attends lavish parties with Cat at night. However, as Lora becomes immersed in Cat's glamorous world, Cat's polished exterior begins to deteriorate, revealing an illicit and deceptive reality beneath the surface. Composed of diary entries, emails, FBI correspondence, and other documents, this novel explores a relationship built on power imbalance and deception. It examines scam culture through sharp observations and dark humor, presenting a story of codependency and lies between two women.
