More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop: A Novel

This novel follows the Tokyo bookshop from Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, returning to the Jimbochi neighborhood location that specializes in modern Japanese literature and its adjacent coffee shop. The story deepens relationships between Takako, her uncle Satoru, and the people around them. New regular customers arrive at the shop, including an elderly man in a worn mouse-colored sweater and another who collects books for their official author seals. Through everyday interactions centered on a shared love of books, characters form connections, some romantic relationships develop and end, and some pass away. As time progresses, Satoru and Takako face a significant decision: whether to continue operating the bookshop or close it permanently. This choice leads them to explore their family history and reflect on what a bookstore means to individuals, neighborhoods, and culture.
