The narrator returns to Riverton to reconnect with his foster brothers after leaving without explanation years ago, following his outing and disownment. He broke the code they shared to always support each other, but now has a chance to help with their struggling business and rebuild those relationships. When he witnesses the town's golden boy, Emory, being attacked by the person who outed him in high school, he intervenes. Emory is a man struggling with guilt, grief, and expectations, while the narrator is the bad boy he's never allowed himself to pursue. Their connection becomes complicated—the narrator could be key to Emory's healing or his downfall. Outcast is the first book in the Foster Bro Code series, set in Riverton near the fictional town of Granville. It explores found family, bisexual identity, and flawed characters seeking redemption.
