Perfect for you if...

  • You're fascinated by ancient mysteries and unconventional theories about human history that mainstream scholars dismiss.
  • You enjoy visual books with hundreds of photographs that let you draw your own conclusions from the evidence presented.
  • You've read von Däniken before or you're curious about the ancient astronaut hypothesis without needing to watch documentaries.

Maybe not for you if...

  • You expect peer-reviewed archaeology or academic rigour. This book argues against conventional explanations, not with them.
  • You're looking for balanced coverage of competing theories. Von Däniken presents his alien intervention thesis as the compelling answer.
  • You prefer minimalist design. This is a photo-heavy coffee table style book that demands engagement with visual evidence rather than prose.

About this book

Erich von Däniken opens his photo archive to present a full-color exploration of ancient sites across Egypt, Spain, France, Turkey, and Italy. The book examines stone structures built by master builders, mysterious underground complexes, geometrically aligned stone circles, and the pyramids of Egypt, questioning who constructed them and how they obtained such advanced knowledge. Von Däniken documents evidence that whole countries were surveyed thousands of years ago, with hundreds of Stone Age holy places positioned at equal distances from one another, forming giant squares and triangles. He argues that classical archaeology provides no answers to these questions and appears uninterested in pursuing them. Featuring more than 160 color photos and illustrations, the book reveals details about what von Däniken calls "impossible buildings" in Europe and the Mediterranean region, describes unusual facts, and challenges conventional interpretations of the past.
