Doctor Fionn Kane has moved to small-town Nebraska to escape a broken heart, his almost-fiancé, and a derailed surgical career. He intends to live quietly without romantic involvement. Rose Evans is a motorcycle performer who has spent a decade with the Silveria Circus and occasionally commits murder. When a kill goes wrong and leaves her with a broken leg, she ends up at the home of the town doctor. The story explores what happens when a broken heart cannot be easily mended, and when staying in one place allows ghosts from the past to catch up. The book includes the tropes of friends with benefits, small-town romance, fish out of water, forced proximity, hurt/care, and touch her and die.
