Temper: A Novel

In a land similar to South Africa, twin brothers face powerful forces beyond their control in this blend of science fiction, horror, magic, and dark humor. Auben Mutze bears six vice brands down his arm, marking him as inferior in society compared to his twin brother Kasim, who has only one. Despite this stigma, Auben is intelligent and outgoing, popular at his underprivileged high school. He struggles with envy of Kasim, whose single vice brand promises a better future. Their already strained relationship deteriorates when Auben begins hearing voices that encourage him toward evil deeds beyond innocent mischief. Lechery, deceit, and vanity intensify, accompanied by inexplicable blood cravings. As temperatures drop and temptations rise during a particular season, demons become active on this alternate African continent. Auben must silence the maddening voices before they cause him to lose his mind and sense of time.
