The Last Garden in England

The Last Garden in England follows five women across three time periods, all connected by one special garden. In the present day, Emma Lovett, a garden restorer, is hired to restore the gardens of Highbury House estate, originally designed in 1907 by her hero Venetia Smith. As she investigates the gardens' history, she uncovers long-hidden secrets. In 1907, Venetia Smith is an accomplished garden designer working for wealthy industrialists, solicitors, and bankers. When commissioned to design Highbury House's gardens, she is determined to create a masterpiece, though the project and the people she meets will transform her life. In 1944, three women's lives intersect at Highbury House during wartime. Land girl Beth Pedley seeks a home, cook Stella Adderton wants to escape, and widow Diana Symonds struggles to preserve her pre-war life as her requisitioned house becomes a convalescent hospital for wounded soldiers. When the gardens face wartime threats, these women are bound together by a secret that will endure for decades.
