The Rivals

The feud between Weston Lockwood and the narrator began long before they were born. Their grandfathers were once best friends and business partners until the day one grandfather's bride-to-be revealed she could not marry him because she was also in love with Weston's grandfather. Both men had been partners with Grace Copeland, who could not choose between them. Eventually, all three went their separate ways. The two grandfathers married other women and became major business rivals. Their fathers continued the feud, as did Weston and the narrator. The two families maintained distance until Grace Copeland died and unexpectedly left one of the world's most valuable hotels to both grandfathers to share. Now the narrator finds herself trapped in the hotel with Weston, forced to manage the complicated inheritance their families received. Their conflict quickly reignites. Weston is tall, intelligent, arrogant, and attractive—everything the narrator claims to dislike. However, their arguments repeatedly lead them into bed together, complicating the family rivalry.
