Rhode Island's Haunted Ramtail Factory is officially listed as haunted by the Rhode Island Census. The book examines this deteriorating Foster factory in Foster, Rhode Island, drawing on over two decades of research by authors Tom D'Agostino and Arlene Nicholson. On May 19, 1822, Peleg Walker was found dead inside the factory. Nearly a decade earlier, he and four family members had started the business together. According to legend, financial disputes led to the partnership's dissolution, with Peleg found hanging from the bell rope he used each morning to signal shift changes. Whether his death was suicide or murder remains unknown. The factory has been recognized as a haunted site since 1885 and now stands in ruins. According to accounts, Peleg's presence persists at the location—ringing his night watchman's bell and appearing with a candle lantern. The book includes photographs documenting the site's mysterious history.
