What Remains

Cecilia has recently ended a relationship and struggles to understand why she repeats the same mistakes. Marian feels an unnamed unease about her family. Mencía has invested so much in her work that she has lost her sense of self outside of it. These three friends, each carrying different wounds rooted in childhood patterns that continue to shape their lives, decide to attend a zen retreat. They expect a spa experience but instead encounter silence, meditation, and a teacher who asks difficult questions rather than providing easy answers. Through the stories of Cecilia, Marian, and Mencía, the novel explores why people give so much for so little in return, how childhood wounds repeat in adult relationships, and how to stop avoiding pain and begin confronting it.
